Magazine, Brochure & Catalogue Design Services

Supplied in print or digital format by Hayley Creasey at Hays Den
In the current trend to digitise, many publishers are now using brochures and catalogues as marketing investments. Brochures, magazines and catalogues are now being created as digital, interactive PDFs in addition to printed versions. You can have the digital version of your artwork embedded on your website and include links to other landing pages on your website within the interactive pdf so your user has more opportunities to learn more about your product and/or services. As an added bonus, these can then be downloaded or accessed on multiple different devices at any time!
What is a Magazine?
A magazine is a publication containing articles on various topics. It is typically published regularly with five to ten new issues per year. The most popular magazines are often put together by journalists or other editors, and they are often targeted at a particular readership.

Format of a Magazines
Magazines are typically defined by their size, number of pages, and type of paper. The most common sizes are the North American standard of 8.5" × 11" (216 mm × 279 mm) or the international standard of 210mm x 297mm.

Benefits of the Magazine
Magazines are a very powerful source of information. Unlike online articles, magazines live on as an archive for future generations to learn from. It is a great way to advertise your products and increase sales if you have a good design.

A magazine provides the ideal opportunity to educate readers about a specific topic and there's a chance they will come back for more.

Designing Brochures and Catalogues
One of the most popular ways to advertise is by making brochures and catalogues for customers. There are many different creative design options available with different fonts, colours, and layouts. It's important to have a custom design to fit your business needs and brand identity. The best way to do this is by looking at some examples of other brochures or catalogues on the market including your competitors which will guide a more unique approach for your business.

Designing a Brochure, Magazine or Catalogue for your Business
A brochure or a catalogue is a document that is usually in booklet form and usually contains pictures and text meant to describe products or services. The designer would take the copy and images supplied to create a unique layout for each page whilst keeping to an agreed template. This will ensure that the artwork follows a consistent style throughout.

A brochure is typically distributed in print format and is often used as an advertising tool. A catalogue, on the other hand, is typically distributed in electronic format and is often used for showcasing individual products and product specifications.

The design process for a magazine, brochure or catalogue starts with research, sketches, mock-ups and finally the final product. It is important to have a clear idea of the brands identity as this will be communicated through the use of colour, typography and photography. A good design should represent the brand's personality as well as its products. The key to good design is taking into account every detail from layout to paper stock.

Typefaces, Fonts and Layout Designs
The size and shape of a brochure or catalogue is typically determined by the number of pages. In general, you should plan to have one or two pages for each main product or service. You can use color to highlight key information on those pages. It's also important that the layout of a brochure be easy to follow so that a reader knows exactly what they're seeing.
